There is insufficient evidence to determine whether ER:YAG lasers have a clinical effect in reducing pocket depth in conjunction with non-surgical therapy. Laser therapy has been compared to non-surgical therapy with equivocal results. |

Validity
Yan: In this meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials, the number of trials, patients and individual follow-up after a selected amount of time remains unclear.
Mailoa: In this systematic review, seven clinical trials and two animal studies were involved. Follow-up was conducted beyond six months of treatment in a minimum of ten patients involved. Meta-analysis was conducted.

Although ER:YAG laser treatment has been shown to reduce pocket depth compared to to non-surgical therapy, there is insufficient evidence to determine its benefit in conjunction with non-surgical therapy. |
