The Evidence |
Wang and his colleagues’ study design was a Randomized Control Trial. The groups in the study were similar at start, there was more than an 80% completion rate and the groups were treated the same. There was adequate follow up. It was not evident if the study was double blind. Compliance was adequate and recall bias unlikely. There were no competing interests.
Further research should be done to confirm the results. With additional research, conclusions could then be made in regards to the effect of having glycemic control in the success of root canal therapy in diabetic patients.

Applicability |
The subjects are representative of patients, therefore the information may be generalizable. Root Canal therapy in patients with diabetes mellitus type II would be feasible in a clinical setting. A patient could potentially experience a successful root canal therapy, as a benefit. On the other hand, the patient may experience the failure of the root canal treated teeth. |
