Clinical Question |
In treating a patient with an immature permanent tooth with pulpal necrosis, will a regenerative endodontic treatment with disinfection by a triple antibiotic paste compared with calcium hydroxide paste, or formocresol paste produce better results in root development? |
Clinical Bottom Line |
Treating the root canal with a triple antibiotic paste produces better results in root development than calcium hydroxide or formocresol treatment. (See Comments on the CAT below) |

The Evidence |
This study was a case series where the groups were similar at the start and had a greater than 80% completion. The groups were the same and had adequate follow-up. This study was not double blind and had adequate compliance with unlikely recall bias and no competing interests. |
Applicability |
These subjects most likely represent patients that would be seen by an endodontist or pediatric dentist. This treatment may not be applicable in a general dentist setting. |
