The Evidence
In Lui’s double blind randomized controlled trial, 212 patients were given Amelxanox for six days. Patients were instructed to self administer Amelxanox tablets 4 times a day, but there is no comments whether patients were compliant with dosage recommendations. Patients had less than 5mm ulcers and were assessed on pain and ulcer size on days 4 and 6.
Applicability Amelxanox treatment was accepted well by patients with minor aphthous stomatitis. This treatment can be used patients ranging from early teens to the elderly.
